EID Welcomes Plastek as a 2019 Secure Erie Accelerator Sponsor

Erie, PA – The Erie Innovation District is proud to announce a sponsorship with local manufacturer, Plastek. The company has pledged $10,000 to the Secure Erie Accelerator, offered to review potential candidates, provide feedback, play a mentorship role to the incoming cohort, and support a pilot program with one of the startups.


EID is currently accepting applications for our Secure Erie Accelerator (SEA). 10 startups will be selected, receiving $50,000 in seed funding, advanced workshops, expansive mentorship, and co-working space here in Erie. Applicants must be developing products or services that pertain to the IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) or defense space. There are hopes that this cohort will provide key solutions to the local manufacturing industry to companies like Plastek.


Plastek has been in business since 1956 and is led by Joseph J. Prischak. They focus on producing world class plastics, creating everything from home care to eyeliner plastics. They currently have manufacturing facilities in the US, UK, Brazil, and Mexico.

Plastek’s mission statement states:


“The objective of the Plastek Group is to apply the most modern management techniques, quality disciplines, human relations and the latest in automation technology to insure the continuous improvement of product, people, safety and community.”
